A courtesy visit was paid to Federal Medical Centre, Katsina on Thursday 24th March, 2022 by Management staff of Federal Medical Centre, Gusau headed by its Head of Clinical Services.
Looking at the current trend of the use of information communication technology (ICT) to drive patient care in Health Institutions, FMC Gusau is looking to partner with sister institutions and adopt the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
According to the team leader, it purposely came to experience first hand the Hospital Electronic Health Record (EHR) system of Federal Medical Centre, Katsina using the Health Data Information System (HealthDIS) module developed by the Head of Planning Research and Statistics (PRS), Federal Medical Centre, Katsina in person of Dr. Abba Muhammad.
While demonstrating the HealthDIS module works, Dr Abba explained that it is a broad program covering every sector of a Hospital ranging from Administration, clinical, finance, account, procurement & others.
He further demonstrate the use of a Doctors consultation voice command mobile application which comes with the HealthDIS module, it is solely developed to help Doctors during clinics, it ease the process of consultation by using a voice to text command system instead of typing a report, were you talk to the mobile app during session and it automatically writes it down as a statement and send it to the system before the consultant as a clinic report to the HealthDIS in-patient clinic session dashboard. However the application is currently on a testing phase, looking forward to its official release.
